I thought you might have asked because my black and white illustrations showed black belts without hakama (I had considered using grey or a halftone when I was creating them).
I never knew using coloured belts for adults was so unusual.

Both adults and children go through a coloured belt system where I train. Technically you wouldn't see a blackbelt without a hakama at our dojo (unless a senior student forgets theirs of course).
